IH Practical Teacher

The IH Practical Teacher is one of our summer language courses aimed at English language teachers whose first language is not English. In two weeks we will demonstrate practical techniques and approaches for teaching English as a second language.

We cover practical activities for listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as showing you how to use technology in language learning. We look at the use of songs, games and videos for teaching a second language, plus task-based learning strategies, and tips for preparing students for exams.

How We Teach

At International House London, we focus on communication and speaking, with student to student interaction being used rather than a more traditional lecturing approach. This makes our English and Modern Language courses both exciting and rewarding, with progress being made very quickly.

Our Teacher Profiles

Since its creation, International House has been a pioneering force in the field of teacher training, offering the first qualification for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language during a time when the industry was just developing.

International House London now trains hundreds of new and experienced language teachers every year, finding employment for many of them in the affiliated schools abroad.
