Intensive offers 21 hours of English tuition per week and includes a speaking exam assessed through Linguaskill by Cambridge Assessment. Students join morning lessons with the wider group to support integration and cultural understanding through English. In the afternoons, Intensive students take additional specialist lessons focused on spoken fluency, presentation skills and pronunciation.
Students on Intensive follow a structured programme that combines academic development, cultural exploration and recreational activity.
• Lessons: 21 hours per week
• Study trips: One full-day trip and one half-day trip
• Other activities: 22 hours of sports, arts and crafts, and social events
Alongside classroom learning, the programme includes opportunities to practise English in real situations, build confidence and form international friendships.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• improve their spoken English
• increase their vocabulary
• develop exam and study skills
• be more prepared for studying in an English-speaking environment
• make new friends from around the world
• gain the Linguaskill Speaking Exam qualification
At the end of the Intensive Programme, students will take the Linguaskill Speaking test, a computer-based assessment from Cambridge that measures real-life communication skills. The result provides an internationally recognised indicator of their speaking level in English.
Linguaskill Speaking assesses how well students can:
• introduce themselves and talk about familiar topics
• describe images and everyday situations
• answer simple questions clearly
• express short opinions with confidence
The test becomes gradually more challenging, but all tasks are clear and easy to follow. Throughout the course, students prepare for this exam in their afternoon Intensive lessons, practising the exact skills needed to succeed.
By the time they take the test, students feel confident, fluent and ready to express their ideas naturally. Successful performance in Linguaskill Speaking gives learners a valuable qualification and a clear benchmark of their English ability.
