Japanese Survival Course

Our Japanese Survival Course is for people learning Japanese for the first time. Over five weeks, you will learn the basic words and phrases of the Japanese language to get more out of a holiday or business trip. Lessons are dynamic and interactive, with your teacher speaking Japanese and using props and pictures to help you understand. The Survival course is the equivalent of our Japanese for Beginners General Programme.

Course overview

  • We focus on basic Japanese conversation - the course gives you practical language skills for travelling and socialising. Each lesson develops a language skill for a different tourist scenario.
  • The course runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm for five weeks (20 lessons).
  • The average class size is 6-8 students (maximum 14) and the minimum course entry age is 16 years old.

Take the online Japanese test

Take our online test to discover your language level and ability. When you arrive at IH London we will assess you in a first lesson (other languages) to ensure that you are studying with students of a similar level.
